And of those people, how many of them think everyone believes them.
I think that everyone does at some point, but from my own experience, it's not with people I know well and it's usually to fake it through an awkward conversation.
But, those people who do it on a regular basis? Come on!
It really irritates me that people fake their way through their lives. They are one way with a certain set of people, and another with a different set. If you happen to be slightly involved in both sets, you can see the b/s first hand and realize..."Oh shit, they are so full of it".
(First of all if you are going to lie, cover your tracks and make sure all parties involved are in on it. Make sure you don't set yourself up to get caught!)
(Second, don't lie about stuff no one cares about because it makes you look ike an asshole when you do get caught)
But then it begs the question, who are they REALLY. Because if they are bullshitting all over the place, do they even know who they are? Or are they trying on all different hats to figure it out.
My mother in law told me a quote yesterday, "Fake it till you make it", but I don't think she was talking about fabricating parts of your life in the hopes they would come true. More along the lines of, if you are introverted, but push yourself to be outgoing one day you'll be able to do it without effort. If you don't cook, but realize you have to...keep doing it and you'll learn to love it. Or if you're a photographer, (like me) but you've been so scared to take the leap into the professional world, one day you're gonna do it and (hopefully) little by little it will be easier.
See, fake it till you make it.
Unfortunately I have a flaw, I take most people at face value. What comes out of your mouth I believe. My other flaw, it that if I catch you lying to me, no matter what you say, you're a liar from that day forward until you prove me otherwise.
I mean come on, let's say I ask you to hang out and you say you can't. But they you go into detail about why you can't and I think nothing of it and go about my life. THEN you post pics of you on your myspace page doing not what you said you were going to do.
Why lie? Just be truthful. Or, better yet, just say "no I can't tonight, maybe some other night".
What's wrong with that? I don't NEED to know what you are doing, or why you don't want to do it with me. There's no need to bullshit.
So bottom line I guess would be, I'll believe what you say...but I promise I won't judge you if you tell me the truth.
